A surprise awaits us …

… When we wake up tomorrow, i am sure. Made our way to byron bay with a stop at the koala sanctuary to complete our wildlife encounters (this time with a little assistance).

After dusk we arrived at our pad up in the hills above byron bay … What we could see in the dark makes us curious for the view at daytime ๐Ÿ˜‰

Internet is limited here again, so impressions will have to wait.

I stand corrected …

last night there was another “shower” … quite impressive. either the houses here are not sound proofed at all or it really was *that* loud … “woke up and stayed awake” loud … note to self: showers are different south of the equator ๐Ÿ˜‰

but on the upside, the weather today was perfect. blue skies, sunshine. perfect day for a stroll through the city. i headed back early to the house; hope the others make it back … safe, i am sure about that. dry – well – that’s a different story, looking at the thick black clouds out there ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

tomorrow we are heading out of brisbane and further towards sydney.

Brisbane it is …

… after a leisurely drive from hervey bay down the sunshine coast, well today it was more the “coast” as the lack of sunshine really painted a different picture, we arrived in brisbane. unfortunately the weather is not as nice here today, but really not a problem. only the notion of “showers in the dry season” here in australia seem to have a slightly different meaning than we had expected.

if what came down today were “showers” i really do not want to be here when it rains for real ๐Ÿ˜‰

still some impressions from our trip today.

Our day on Fraser Island

A dingo with some stolen cheese on the beach ๐Ÿ˜‰
spontaneous plane flight around the Island

A bumpy ride …

… no kidding ! yesterdays fraser island tour was quite an experience. with a 4×4 bus over dunes, along the beach and across the island. veeeery entertaining, not only the driver but also the drive itself. beautiful scenery, indeed.

And with all the wifi goodness …

… even more videos. This one covering cape hillsborough and eungella national park.

the highlights of the day (you might have seen them in daniel’s previous post) were :

– roos in the yard at cape hillsborough
– snake in the tree at cape hillsborough
– platypus in the stream at eungella national park
– huntsman (spider, not person ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) in the tub at mackay (our house, actually)

although it almost sounds like a collection of bad movie and country song titles, it was probably the most wildlife we encountered taken the last two weeks together … YES!

here are some more impressions of the day …

To quote the late steve jobs …

… one more thing …

today was a long driving day through -and i quote the travel guide- “probably the most boring stretch of queensland” and man, how right they were. good thing we decided to spend this day in the car to drive down from mackay all the way to hervey bay, where we will spend the next two nights in yet another interesting and charming casa.

here some impressions of todays drive …

Never judge a book …

… by its cover! A lesson we learned today ๐Ÿ˜‰
After leaving airlie beach today, we visited cape hillsborough and eungella national park. Successful day as we had more wildlife encounters than the past two weeks … Roos, snakes, lizards, spiders … All in one day!

Then we arrived at our stay for tonight …
